About ASC

Our Story

Advanced Scientific Concepts, Inc. (ASC) was founded in Santa Barbara, California by Dr. Roger Stettner in 1987. Roger and the ASC team invented and successfully commercialized global shutter flash LIDAR for a wide range of military, space, and commercial applications. ASC Inc. was acquired by Continental Automotive Group (AG), a tier 1 automotive supplier, in 2016.  At the time of the ASC Inc. acquisition, ASC LLC, an independent small business entity was created to continue to provide global shutter flash LIDAR technology, cameras, and 3D perception systems to the space, military, manned airborne, and bathymetric designated markets. Continental AG’s focus is the commercial LIDAR market with a specific focus on advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous vehicle applications.

Today, ASC LLC continues to operate at the original Santa Barbara location. In addition to designing and manufacturing global shutter flash LIDAR solutions, ASC is an exclusive authorized reseller of Continental’s commercial LIDAR cameras and IP. This capability will enables ASC to leverage the commercial market “economy of scale” to offer affordable LIDAR solutions to its designated markets.
