What is Global Shutter Flash LIDAR?

Global Shutter Flash (GSF) LIDAR is the 3D imaging / ranging sensor modality of choice for real time digital elevation mapping, relative navigation, domain awareness, tracking, and augmented reality applications.  Global Shutter Flash (GSF) LIDAR GSF-LIDAR is a true solid state, non-scanning, time of flight (ToF) based 3D imaging system that provides real time, distortion free, data rich scene organized point clouds (per point azimuth, zenith ,distance, intensity) at video frame rates.  Time of flight (ToF) LIDAR is a highly accurate distance mapping and 3D imaging technology. Time of Flight sensors emit a very short pulse of laser light. The light pulse is reflected from objects in the scene. The ToF sensor precisely and accurately measures the pulse transit time. Since the speed of light is a constant, the measured transit time easily converted to a depth value. Gating control enables the GSF-LIDAR to range / image through obscurants such as dust, fog, rain, and snow. This highly versatile technology has been deployed in  a wide range of space, airborne, terrestrial, and under-water applications.
